A long time ago I won Microsoft Train Simulator due to submitting the letter of the month to a magazine, and the simulator features the Orient Express trip. And it's a reasonable match for you photos! See this screenshot.

wow! it's exatly the place, no question! they surely used proper photos to create the route. I think there WAS a snap of the train going into a tunnel in the game - just like the one I shot ;)
we hadn't thought this trip will turn to be such a beauty: we hoped to get a couple of nice views and one or two pleasant walks through some old ruins. and what we got was a real explosion of views, sounds, tastes, of the language... I can't remember a situation when my hopes were exceeded so much! we were drunk with Venice but I knew all along it would be like that.
